In a season unlike any other on the Korn Ferry Tour, Canadian Adam Svensson has now won twice in the last five months.

Svensson, of Surrey, B.C., captured the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship Sunday in Upper Arlington, Ohio, beating Stephan Jaeger and Bronson Burgoon by two strokes after a 4-under 67 in the final round.

“It’s amazing,” Svensson said. “I was kind of losing it a bit down the stretch but I’m just very, very happy that I pulled myself together (at the Ohio State University Scarlet course) … It’s an extremely tough golf course. I’m just very, very thrilled.”

This is the second time Adam Svensson has earned a PGA Tour card; he finished 14th on the Korn Ferry Tour’s money list in 2018 before struggling on the main tour.

The 27-year-old started the day two shots off the lead but had a blistering start, going 5-under for his first nine holes. That put him on top of the leaderboard as he made the turn. He never relinquished the lead, despite a bogey on the par-3 13th.

Svensson captured the Club Car Championship in March and had already earned his PGA Tour card for next season.

The Tour, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, is in a wraparound season for the first time, with points accumulated in both 2020 and 2021.

This is the second time Svensson has earned a PGA Tour card; he finished 14th on the Korn Ferry Tour’s money list in 2018 before struggling on the main tour. He has been working with performance coach Eric Ah-Yuen, a world champion in taekwondo, and says that has made a world of difference.

“I do things 100 per cent now,” Svensson said. “I’m pretty pumped (to get back on the PGA Tour). It’s been two years on the Korn Ferry Tour and it’s been great, but I’m ready to take my game to the next level.”

The Korn Ferry Tour wraps up next week with the Korn Ferry Tour Championship.
