IT was the Braxton Kuntz show at St. Charles Country Club on Wednesday.

The 18-year-old began his title defence of the Manitoba junior men’s championship by firing a bogey-free 67 to pace the field at 5-under through 18 holes.

The reigning champ from Breezy Bend Country Club finished the day with five birdies, four of them coming on the back nine, in what was a near-flawless performance.

He leads St. Charles member Grady Chuback, who shot a 3-under 69, by two strokes with 36 holes to go.

Addison Kartusch, another St. Charles member, heads the junior women’s championship after posting 76 to sit at 4-over.

She leads Cala Korman, who shot a 5-over 77, by one stroke.
