THE teams are set for the 2009 Allan Cup national senior men’s AAA hockey championship set for April 13-18 in Steinbach. The host Steinbach North Stars will be joined by Manitoba’s South East Prairie Thunder, the Thunder Bay Twins, Ontario’s Dundas Real McCoys, Saskatchewan’s Lloydminster Border Kings and the Bentley Generals of Alberta.
“Our guys are all pretty fired up, we start next Monday against Thunder Bay, and we’ve got a busy week of practices this week leading up to it,” said North Stars manager Roger St. Laurent. “We played 25 games this year, so we’re prepared but no one really knows how you’ll stack up against these teams from out of province that you just don’t get a chance to see.”
The tournament will open on April 13 with Manitoba’s South East Thunder taking on Lloydminster at 4 p.m. The host North Stars meet Thunder Bay at 8 p.m. For more information and the schedule, please see www.allancup.ca.
