CAPE BRETON – Rian Chudzinski scored the shootout winner to lift the Moncton Wildcats to a 3-2 victory over the Cape Breton Eagles on Friday night in Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League action.

Kuzma Voronin and Preston Lounsbury scored in regulation for Moncton (1-1-1), which got 34 saves from Rudy Guimond.

Reece Peitzsche and Eliot Litalien replied for Cape Breton (1-1-1). Félix Hamel kicked out 30 shots.

Entering the third period down 1-0, the Wildcats got on the board then took the lead in a span of 28 seconds around the midway point of the frame. Lounsbury scored at 9:17, with Voronin putting the Wildcats ahead at 9:45. 

However, Litalien sent the game to overtime with the tying marker with just one second left in regulation.

REMPARTS 3 HUSKIES 2 (OT)

ROUYN-NORANDA, Que. – Antoine Dorion netted the game-winning goal at 3:25 of overtime as the Québec Remparts edged the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies 3-2.

Eliott Simard and Andreas Straka, who had the tying goal at 13:12 of the third period, added the others for Québec (1-3-0). Benjamin Lelièvre stopped 31 shots.

Eliot Ogonowski and Benjamin Brunelle scored for Rouyn-Noranda (2-0-2). Alexandre Raymond stopped 22 shots.

MOOSEHEADS 4 SEA DOGS 3

HALIFAX – Oleg Kulebyakin knocked in the game-winning goal at 15:46 of the third period as the Halifax Mooseheads topped the Saint John Sea Dogs 4-3.

Patrick McNab, Daniel Walters and Quinn Kennedy also contributed goals for Halifax (2-1-0). Owen Bresson made 24 saves.

Dylan Rozzi, Zachary Morin and Alexander Donovan scored for Saint John (1-2-0). Justin Robinson stopped 27 shots.

VOLTIGEURS 3 PHOENIX 2

SHERBROOKE, Que. – Jesse Allecia capped a three-goal night with the winner at 1:08 in the third period as the Drummondville Voltigeurs edged the Sherbrooke Phoenix 3-2.

Allecia’s third-period goal put Drummondville (2-1-0) ahead 3-1. Jan Larys made 33 saves.

Thomas Rousseau and Jayden Plouffe replied for Sherbrooke (2-1-0). Justin Brisebois stopped 38 shots.

OLYMPIQUES 5 DRAKKAR 1

GATINEAU, Que. – Maxime Coté and Maxim Dubé each scored twice as the Gatineau Olympiques cruised to a 5-1 win over the Baie-Comeau Drakkar.

Simon-Xavier Cyr added the other for Gatineau (2-1-0), which got 19 saves from Danai Shaiikov.

Justin Gendron opened the scoring at 10:56 for Baie-Comeau (0-3-0) before the Drakkar surrendered five unanswered goals. Lucas Beckman stopped 28 of 32 shots.

ARMADA 4 CATARACTES 1

BOISBRIAND, Que. – Jakub Milota made 34 saves as the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada downed the Shawinigan Cataractes 4-1.

Matt Gosselin, Olivier Lemieux, Mael Lavigne and Brayden Besner scored for Blainville-Boisbriand (3-0-0).

Vince Elie ended Milota’s shutout bid by getting Shawinigan (1-1-0-1) on the board with 1:40 left in the contest. Mathys Fernandez stopped 26 shots.
