EDMONTON – The Edmonton Oilers have signed defenceman Jake Walman to a seven-year contract extension with an average annual value of US$7 million, the NHL team announced Monday.
The Oilers announced the deal shortly after confirming superstar centre Connor McDavid had signed a two-year, $25-million extension.
The Oilers acquired the six-foot-one, 218-pound defenceman from San Jose at last season’s trade deadline.

The 29-year-old from Toronto had a goal and seven assists in 15 regular-season games for the Oilers and added two goals and eight assists in 22 playoff games.
In all, Walman had career highs in assists (33), points (40) and ice time (22 minutes 46 seconds average) in 2024-25.
His 65 combined games last year were also the most of his six-year NHL career dating back to 2019-20.
Walman was selected in the third round, 82nd overall, by St. Louis at the 2014 NHL draft.
He has 32 goals and 59 assists over 267 career games with St. Louis, Detroit, San Jose and Edmonton.
