VANCOUVER – Tyler Bertuzzi scored his fourth career hat trick and the Chicago Blackhawks downed the Vancouver Canucks 5-2 on Wednesday.
Connor Bedard had an empty-net goal and an assist for the Blackhawks (6-5-3), while Ilya Mikheyev also scored and Ryan Donato contributed a pair of assists.
Spencer Knight stopped 43 of the 45 shots he faced in Chicago’s net.
Aatu Raty and Evander Kane got pucks past the former Canucks netminder late in the third period.
Kevin Lankinen made 23 saves for the Canucks (7-8-0), who outshot the Blackhawks 45-28 across the game.
The result snapped a three-game losing skid for Chicago, while the Canucks have alternated one win, one loss for their last six games.
Takeaways

Vancouver still has five players on its injured reserve list, but assistant coach Brett McLean said after Wednesday’s morning skate that forwards Jonathan Lekkerimaki and Teddy Blueger are expected to practice in non-contact jerseys “soon.”
Blackhawks: North Vancouver product Bedard stretched his point streak to six games with five goals and six assists across the stretch.
Key moment
Bertuzzi opened the scoring just over three minutes into the third period, deflecting a long shot from Matt Grzelcyk in with his skate at the side of the net.
