NEW YORK – Tampa Bay’s Andrei Vasilevskiy, Ilya Sorokin of the New York Islanders and Boston’s Jeremy Swayman were named finalists for the Vezina Trophy on Wednesday.
The award is given out annually to the NHL’s top goaltender.
Vasilevskiy led the league with 39 wins and ranked second in goals-against average (2.12) and tied for fourth in save percentage (.912).
The six-time Vezina finalist and winner in 2018-19 was 17-0-1 with a 1.90 goals-against average and .925 save percentage during a stretch from Dec. 20 to Feb. 25 that helped Tampa Bay finish second in the Atlantic Division.
Sorokin posted a 29-24-2 record with a 2.68 goals-against average, a .906 save percentage, and led the NHL with seven shutouts.
Swayman set a career high with 31 wins and posted a 2.71 goals-against average and a .908 save percentage in 54 games.
Winnipeg Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck won the award last season.
