Hey there, time traveller!
This article was published 19/08/2011 (5136 days ago), so information in it may no longer be current.
IT might not take the sting out of a biting January wind or a February blizzard, but this sure as heck can’t hurt for Winnipeg Jets’ fans.
The NHL released its national television schedule on Thursday and the Jets will be featured 21 times on CBC and five times on The Sports Network. Winnipeg’s Kraft Hockeyville exhibition game against the Ottawa Senators in Conception Bay, N.L., on Sept. 26 will also be televised on CBC. There are also one game on the French-language RDS and one game on Versus.
Interestingly, only the Montreal Canadiens (28) and Toronto Maple Leafs (24) will be featured more on CBC. All five of the Jets appearances on the TSN national schedule will be against Original Six teams.
It’s important to also point out while the new radio/TV agreement between TSN and the Jets has yet to be formally announced, all their games will be on the tube this season.
An announcement on that deal will be confirmed soon.
As well, the two leading contenders for the play-by-play job are said to be Dennis Beyak, currently the radio voice of the Toronto Maple Leafs since 1998 and CJOB’s Brian Munz, who has called Manitoba Moose games for the past few seasons.
The Jets’ triumphant return to Winnipeg on Sunday, Oct. 9 at 4 p.m. will be seen on CBC across the country with the NHL Network bringing the game to U.S. viewers.
