Hey there, time traveller!

DOORS to the MTS Centre will open today at 2:30 p.m, a half hour earlier than the normal one hour prior to puck drop.
And on the subject of puck drop, after all the introductions, a special commemorative video tribute to forward Rick Rypien and the national anthems, it’s believed today’s new-era ceremonial faceoff will be conducted by True North partners David Thomson and Mark Chipman, Jets assistant GM Craig Heisinger and Shelley Crawford, Rypien’s mother.
Zinger a popular guy
CRAIG HEISINGER is a man in demand these days.
The former equipment manager of Jets 1.0 is now the senior vice-president and director of hockey operations/assistant GM and GM of the AHL’s St. John’s IceCaps of Jets 2.0.
He’s got possibly the longest lineup of interviews of anyone from the Jets or the True North organization today, largely because of his involvement with the earlier-era Jets. The list includes Hockey Night in Canada plus its After Hours show, TSN, Sportsnet and at least two radio engagements today.
“This really isn’t about me,” Heisinger was still saying Saturday.
A’s for Buff, Enstrom
THE Jets have named two alternates to captain Andrew Ladd.
Dustin Byfuglien and Tobias Enstrom were wearing A’s in the team picture taken this week.
Forsberg honoured
DENVER — Peter Forsberg had his No. 21 jersey retired by the Colorado Avalanche before the season opener against the Detroit Red Wings.
The team also raised a banner with his name and number to the Pepsi Center rafters Saturday night, where it will hang alongside those of Joe Sakic (19), Patrick Roy (33) and Ray Bourque (77).
Forsberg made his way into the arena by walking through the stands, shaking hands and high-fiving kids as he made his way to the ice. The crowd gave Forsberg a thunderous ovation the entire way.
The Swedish star remains a fan favourite for his tenacious play that helped the team to two Stanley Cup titles. He attempted a comeback with the Avs last season, but called it a career after two games because of a chronic foot ailment.
