Big picture

Another night of weak offence — specifically finish — and the Jets came away with only disappointment against the NHL’s worst team to date. Winnipeg returns home for three games at the MTS Centre with a 5-9-3 record, now with only two more wins than NHL-last Columbus.

Little picture

Rookie Ryan Johansen’s goal just 53 seconds into this game completely changed the tone of the night. The Jets came into Columbus trying desperately to get the jump and inflict more doubt into the struggling Blue Jackets. But Winnipeg then had to chase the game all night and attitudes changed dramatically.

Turning point

Leading 1-0, Columbus got the second goal, also from Johansen, after a two-on-one break at 4:06 of the third period. That made the mountain just too tall to climb for the Jets.
