Senators 6 / Jets 4
Big picture
It had all the makings of a dandy little story — the Jets rally from a goal down in the third for the first time this season — but, in the end, some of the same flaws plagued the home side in their 11th loss of the season. The Jets blew a 4-3 third-period lead and gave up the game-winner while a man down as the Senators scored three times in the final 10:25 to even their road record at 6-6-1. And so, Winnipeg is now 0-10-2 this season when trailing after two periods. Oh, what could have been.
Little picture
The Jets fall two games below .500 with the loss, their second of the season to the Senators. Two other factors at play here: The defeat snaps a three-game winning streak at the MTS Centre and doesn’t exactly get the Jets off to a great start on their extended homestand.
Game-breaker
A scrambly and sloppy third period cost the Jets and the game-winner by Zack Smith came following a very, very iffy hooking penalty called on Johnny Oduya. But the Jets and their faithful have seen that movie before.
