Big picture
The Jets had clearly forgotten about Saturday’s debacle in Detroit and skated a hard, intense game at home once again. They have now won five straight in their own barn, knocking off the top team in the NHL on Tuesday night, to move to 14-12-4.
Little picture
After the Wild converted their five-on-three — funny how Winnipeg’s opponents get so many and the Jets get so few — the Jets turned up the temperature and produced the tying goal within four minutes. They had an apparent goal later in the period waved off but took advantage of a third-period power play with Clayton Stoner sitting in the box for delaying the game, and got Bryan Little’s game winner with five minutes to play.
Game-breaker
We’re calling this one for Jets winger Blake Wheeler, whose patience in the dying seconds of the third-period power play froze the Wild defenders and allowed the winning play to develop — Wheeler to back-dooring Dustin Byfuglien over to Bryan Little at the side of the Wild goal. Little’s 11th of the season was the difference, a play started by Wheeler, a Minnesotan who now has nine points in the last eight games.
