THE Jets presented three trophies prior to Saturday’s game:
Jim Slater won the Staffmax Staffing & Recruiting Community Service Award.
Slater was honoured for his “tireless involvement in numerous community-benefiting events.” He started the promotion called “Take a Jet to Work Day” where he voluntarily spent his days-off visiting Winnipeggers at work and was actively involved in the Jets True North Foundation.
Ondrej Pavelec won The McDiarmid Lumber Three Stars Award after receiving a star of the game award 12 times at MTS Centre this season, being first-star five times.
Mark Stuart was honoured with the Dan Snyder Memorial award, presented to the player ‘who embodies perseverance, dedication and hard work without reward or recognition, so that his team and teammates might succeed.’
The award is named after former Atlanta Thrasher Dan Snyder, who died in 2003 in a car accident. Snyder’s father and brother were on hand at the MTS Centre to present Stuart with the award. Past winners of the award are Jets forwards Bryan Little and Jim Slater.
