ҕӕ ON THE BUBBLE
Three games into his season, Jets forward Mark Scheifele is the subject of daily questions. If the team keeps him in the NHL for a sixth game this season, the first year of his three-year contract becomes official.
It doesn’t mean the team must make a decision in the next two games, but you know they’re monitoring this case closely.
“I think Mark’s handled himself well,” Jets coach Claude Noel said Wednesday. “We have a smaller window again and no exhibition games. So it’s a tough situation. I think he’s been just fine.”
The decision on Scheifele, whatever it is and whenever it’s made, will be thoroughly considered, Noel said.
ҕӕ ON THE MEND
No changes from the two-game road trip. D Zach Bogosian is still targeted for mid-February after wrist surgery; RW Antti Miettinen is out long-term, the team says, after an upper-body injury sustained on the second day of training camp.
