★ Phil Kessel, Toronto. Not one of his highlight-reel games, but delivering the winning goal late is worthy of top billing many nights, including this one.

★★ Bryan Little, Jets. Two more assists. Another heady game on the right wing of a new line.

★★★ Tyler Bozak, Toronto. A two-point night, including a sweet shorthanded marker in the second.

LOOKING BACK

One Winnipeg connection was overlooked in the hype building before the Jets-Leafs game this week. Leafs assistant coach Dave Farrish, a veteran of 430 NHL games, was a key member of the Jets 1.0 organization as head coach of the club’s AHL affiliate in Moncton between 1990 and 1992.

There, Farrish, now 56, guided several players who emerged with notable careers, though not all with the Jets.
