★ Jonathan Huberdeau, centre, Panthers: With the Panthers decimated by injuries he’s taken over this team and is their best player. He scored his 11th on a penalty shot and is the Calder Trophy favourite right now.

★★ Jacob Markstrom, goalie, Panthers: Solid and efficient effort from the goalie they call The Alien. Big and quick in the net, he gave the Jets nothing.

FAMILY MATTERS:

Jets defenceman Dustin Byfuglien did not originally travel to Florida with the Jets in order to attend his grandfather’s funeral in Roseau, Minn. Byfuglien then made his way to Sunrise, Fla., on Tuesday and arrived in time to play in the game.

BACK ON TRACK:

The Panthers had lost three in a row and five of six games prior to Tuesday’s win. The Panthers have been riddled with injuries and played with nine regulars out of their lineup.

UP NEXT:

The Jets now head to Tampa for a game against the Lightning on Thursday, followed by road stops in Florida again on Friday and New Jersey Sunday.
