MOVING AROUND:

When Jets coach Claude Noel changed around his defence pairings in the middle of the game, it sent rookie Jacob Trouba back to the top of the team’s ice-time log for a second game this season.

Trouba had 25 minutes 27 seconds of ice to lead the Jets, most of it moving into the second defence pair with Zach Bogosian. Defenceman Grant Clitsome, who started out with Bogosian, was knocked back to 13:06 on the night.

50-50:

That’s Wild defenceman Clayton Stoner’s early odds to play Saturday against Dallas. There’s rarely any telling what moves the NHL to initiate a further-punishment review, but there’s a chance they might not like Stoner’s apparent picking of Michael Frolik’s head in Thursday’s first period. Initially it looked like Stoner missed but replays showed contact, knocking Frolik down.

SLOW START:

Wild winger Dany Heatley isn’t getting much done early and is starting to hear about it. He has no points in four games. In Thursday’s contest, he had 17:21 of ice and two shots on goal.

PRIME TIME:

Nino Niederreiter, the 21-year-old Swiss-born Wild winger, got a promotion to the team’s top line for Thursday’s game.

Who wouldn’t be happy to join Mikko Koivu and Zach Parise?

“They’re phenomenal players,” Niederreiter said. “I’ve just got to do the same game I’ve been playing so far. If I see the opportunity to shoot the puck, I will definitely shoot the puck. I know they’re smart players so I’ll try to find the open space for them and then we’ll see how it’s going to be.”

Acquired from the Islanders for Cal Clutterbuck and a draft pick during the summer, Niederreiter is just a few games into a new system and a new coach.
