The Sharks are among the top teams in the NHL and own a 10-2-4 record for 24 points. San Jose can score and defend and own a league best plus-23 goal differential.
The Sharks dropped a 4-2 loss to the Canucks on Thursday and are 4-2-4 in their last 10.
Goalie Antti Niemi is 9-2-4 with a 2.10 goals-against average and a .913 save percentage and is tied for the league lead with two shutouts.
The Sharks are deep at centre with Joe Pavelski, Joe Thornton and Logan Couture anchoring the club down the middle. Pavelski has 17 points, Thornton has 16 as does Couture. San Jose has an excellent head coach in Todd McLellan and one of the best assistant coaches in the NHL in Larry Robinson.
The Sharks’ power play currently ranks 11th in the NHL, with a percentage of 21.4 scoring nine goals on 42 attempts. Their penalty kill is ranked sixth in the league with an 82.8 percentage.
