ABOUT THE ISLES Come into tonight's game having lost three straight. The Islanders have fallen to eighth and last place in the Metropolitan Division, their 8-13-3 record good for 19 points. That's tied for 14th in the conference. The Islanders are 3-3-1 against the Western Conference this season; are just 2-8-1 within their own division. Captain John Tavares leads the team in scoring with 27 points in 24 games. That's tied for fourth spot in the overall NHL scoring race. Since his trade to the Islanders from Buffalo, winger Tomas Vanek has three goals, six points and is plus-four in the six games he's played. Vanek returned from injury last Friday in Pittsburgh and scored twice. Defencemen Andrew MacDonald and Travis Hamonic are the Islanders' ice time leaders this season, each averaging more than 25 minutes per game. Goalie Evgeni Nabokov is out with a groin injury, has been placed on the IR and didn't practise on Tuesday.
