THERE was swift justice from the NHL for Winnipeg Jets left-winger Anthony Peluso.

The league ruled Sunday that Peluso will be suspended for three games for his boarding major penalty on Saturday against the Dallas Stars.

Peluso ran a long way at Stars defenceman Alex Goligoski, driving him hard into the glass. He was given the major plus a game misconduct, then had a phone hearing midday Sunday with the department of player safety.

“(Peluso) sees Golgoski’s back for some time and distance before he delivers the check,” Brian Leetch, of the NHL department of player safety, said in the explanatory video.

The league also did not like the fact Peluso drove upwards as he drove Goligoski into the glass, cutting the Dallas player for 12 stitches.

Peluso will be ineligible to play tonight in Columbus, Tuesday in Buffalo and Friday at home against Florida.

The Jets will be down another player this week. The team announced Sunday left-winger Matt Halischuk will be lost indefinitely after having surgery to repair a fracture in his forearm Sunday.

It was unknown Sunday night who might be recalled from the AHL’s St. John’s IceCaps to replace Halischuk

Peluso will lose $8,653.86 in salary, the league said. The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
