үӯ ABOUT THE CAPS

— Washington is coming off a 1-0 loss to the New York Islanders on Tuesday, a result that leaves them still in chase mode for a wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference at 25-23-9. The Caps have lost six straight to Metropolitan Division foes. The Caps have been shut out four times this season, all of them at home, and have not won a game this year in which they have scored fewer than three goals.

— Defenceman John Carlson appeared in his 271st consecutive game against the Isles, tying Calle Johansson for the most consecutive games played by a D-man in Caps’ history.

— Caps forward Martin Erat was added to the Czech Republic Olympic roster this week after an injury to Vladimir Sobotka of the St. Louis Blues.

— D-man Mike Green missed his third straight game with a concussion Tuesday against the Isles and may be shut down until after the Olympic break.
