MAURICE IN DEMAND:

Jets boss Paul Maurice may be considered for a coaching role with Canada’s entry at this year’s world championship in Belarus May 9-25, according to a source from Hockey Canada.

If the Phoenix Coyotes don’t qualify for the playoffs, Dave Tippett would be the head coach with Maurice serving as an assistant. But if the Coyotes are in, Maurice could potentially take on the head coaching chores for Canada. New Jersey Devils head coach Pete DeBoer is also in the mix.
