Matt Dumba: His numbers pop up all over the stats sheet: shots, hits, blocked shots. Growing into a solid NHL D-man.

Nik Ehlers: The Danish Dynamos creativity is growing with every game, as is his comfort level.

SENT TO THE ROCK

The Jets assigned seven players to their AHL affiliate, the St. John’s IceCaps: Austen Brassard, Brenden Kichton, Scott Kosmachuk, Julian Melchiori, Jussi Olinoura, Ryan Olsen and Will O’Neill. The move leaves 37 players in camp.

FYI: The Jets have now been involved in two penalty shots through their first three pre-season games — Evander Kane clanged one off the crossbar in the first attempt vs. the Oilers last week while Erik Haula scored on Ondrej Pavelec for the Wild Saturday.

BALANCING ACT

The Jets prospects continue to look more comfortable with every contest. But now Maurice & Co. have to find a balance between letting them learn on the job and trying to hammer home who lines up where for the regular-season opener on Oct. 9.

“Right from the start we had a pretty good idea,” said Maurice. “The Edmonton game (on Monday) will be a really young lineup for us again. And then we’ll start moving the combinations. We’ve tried to stay with them… some injuries have kept us from staying with the lines that we wanted. But we’ll get back and set those lines a little harder after Edmonton.”

UP NEXT

The Jets flew back home immediately after the game and will skate in Winnipeg today before facing the Edmonton Oilers in the Alberta capital on Monday at 8 p.m. (TSN 3; TSN 1290).
