ABOUT THE KINGS
Started their season off with a dud, losing 4-0 at home to the San Jose Sharks. L.A. was in Arizona to play the Coyotes on Saturday night, so neither club will have any rest or travel advantage tonight.
The Kings’ road to the Cup last season was to finish as the sixth seed in the Western Conference, third in the Pacific Division with a mark of 46-28-8 for 100 points. Consistency was apparently a positive, as the team had identical marks of 23-14-4 at home and on the road.
The NHL’s pre-season scoring leader was Tyler Toffoli of the Kings, who had four goals and nine points. You may recall that Toffoli had seven goals in last spring’s playoffs.

With tonight’s game, the Kings start a six-game homestand. They have seven of their first eight this season at Staples Center.
