ABOUT THE DEVILS New Jersey has yet to win at home (0-1-2) and open a three-game homestand against the Jets. The Devils opened the season 3-0, but are just 1-3-2 since. Jersey was crushed in its last game, falling 8-3 to Pittsburgh on Tuesday after the Pens scored seven unanswered goals. Ageless Jaromir Jagr picked up an assist in the loss to Pittsburgh and now has 1,762 points in his career, sixth in league history and just nine shy of Marcel Dionne at 1,771. Jagr also needs one goal to tie Mike Gartner with 708, sixth on the NHL's all-time list. New Jersey's power play is ranked in the top five, with a 25.8 percentage. Earlier this season, former Manitoba Moose Cory Schneider became the first Devils' goaltender other than Martin Brodeur to start a home opener since Oct. 6, 1993 vs. Tampa Bay (Chris Terreri). The Devils blue-line features four defencemen 23 years old or younger: Eric Gelinas (23 years, five months), Jon Merrill (22 years, eight months), Adam Larsson (21 years, 11 months) and Damon Severson (20 years, 2 months). The Jets won both games against the Devils last year by a total score of 6-1. New Jersey leads the all-time series 30-15-8.
