ABOUT THE PENS
- The Pens have won five straight, including Tuesday’s 4-1 victory in Minnesota. Pittsburgh has scored a league-high 45 goals in just 11 games (as of Tuesday’s action).
- The Penguins extended goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury’s contract on Wednesday, inking him to a $23-million, four-year deal that begins next season. Fleury is 7-2-0 with a 1.89 GAA and a .931 save percentage this season.
- Pens captain Sidney Crosby had just one assist on Tuesday but continued to lead the NHL in scoring with 19 points heading into Wednesday’s games. Crosby has been blanked in just two games so far this season and has points in five straight coming into the MTS Centre.
- C Evgeni Malkin also had one assist Tuesday in Minnesota and has registered at least one point in every Pittsburgh outing so far this season. He has five goals and 11 assists in 11 games.
