Winnipeg Jets at Dallas Stars
- When: tonight, 7:30 p.m
- American Airlines Center
- On the Air: TSN3, TSN1290
ABOUT THE STARS
- Tonight’s game is the second in a three-game homestand for the Stars, who kicked it off on Tuesday with a second-period surge to defeat the Ottawa Senators 5-4. Ottawa led 3-1 through one period, driving starter Kari Lehtonen from the game by scoring on three of the first five shots, and then rallied furiously in the third but couldn’t square the game.
- Defenceman John Klingberg, brother of Jets prospect Carl, had two goals Tuesday night to reach six for the season. He’s a plus-nine on the Dallas blueline.
- Dallas was hot for a while, winning eight of nine, but Tuesday’s win was its first in five games (1-2-2), a string that included divisional losses to Chicago, Nashville and Colorado. The Stars are just 2-8-5 vs. the Central Division this season and enter the game tied for fifth spot in the division, seven points behind Winnipeg.
- Centre Tyler Seguin, named to the NHL all-star game next week, leads the Stars in scoring this season, and impressively. He’s 26-22-48 in 42 games, though he was held pointless in Tuesday’s win.
- Dallas’s special teams both rank in the NHL’s bottom 10 this season, with the power play at 23rd and penalty-killing at 25th.
