ABOUT THE PREDS
The Preds, just like the Jets, emerged from their last game with an OT win. Nashville got a goal from James Neal with 32.4 seconds left in extra time for a 3-2 victory over Tampa. It was Neal’s fifth game-winning goal this season.
The win improved Nashville to 36-12-6 and an impressive 22-3-1 at home, best in the league. The Preds have won 13 of their last 14 at Bridgestone Arena. With 78 points, Nashville leads the overall NHL standings.
Rookie sensation Filip Forsberg leads the Preds in scoring (18G, 30A) and Mike Ribeiro has recreated himself in Music City. He has 11 goals and 34 assists, second on the club.
Pekka Rinne stopped 30 of 32 shots in the win over the Lightning for his league-leading 31st win. He is 12-1-1 in his last 14 games. Saturday in New York he became the fastest goaltender to win 30 games (in 39 games played) since the NHL adopted the shootout in 2005-06.
Nasvhille’s 22-3-1 home record includes 19 one-goal decisions, including four OT and four shootout decisions.
The Preds have 137 points from their blue-liners this year, most in the NHL. Roman Josi leads with 38 (10 goals) followed by Shea Weber 36 (12 goals) and Seth Jones at 20 (six goals).
