THE Winnipeg Jets have signed two more free agents, including one of their own.
The NHL team has two-way agreements for one-year with each of Patrice Cormier and Matt Fraser, both valued at $650,000 on the NHL end.
The 25-year-old Cormier has been in the organization since being acquired from the New Jersey Devils in a 2010 trade.
The centre played one game for the Jets last season and spent the majority of the season with the AHL’s St. John’s IceCaps, tallying 21 points (12 goals) in 47 games.
He has played 50 NHL games for the organization.
Fraser, also 25, was acquired by the Edmonton Oilers at mid-season of 2014-15, claimed on waivers from the Boston Bruins.
The Red Deer, Alta., native had eight goals in 60 NHL games between the teams last season.
Both are a rugged type of player. Cormier is known for his heavier style of game, while Fraser has also shown some finish, having had seasons of 37, 33 and 20 goals (in 44 games) in the AHL since 2011.
Fraser, who may struggle with quickness at times, suffered a late-season concussion while with the Oilers, taking Nazem Kadri’s elbow to the head in March. Kadri was suspended for four games for the head shot. Fraser has a total of 11 goals and 17 points in 87 NHL games.
