THE Winnipeg Jets announced changes to their scouting department Tuesday.
The Jets say Mark Hillier, the club’s head amateur scout for the past five seasons, has been promoted to director of amateur scouting.
Hillier replaces Marcel Comeau, who the club says will remain with the team as an amateur scout but “has taken a step back from the director’s position to pursue more time with his family.”
The Jets also announced they’ve added Kjell Dahlin as a European amateur scout, Jari Gronstrand as a European professional scout and Mark White as a college free agent scout.
Dahlin played three seasons with the Montreal Canadiens and won a Stanley Cup with the Habs in 1986, the same year he was named to the NHL all-rookie team. He replaces Michael Sundlov, who is the new GM of Karlskrona in Sweden.
Gronstrand was the European pro scout for the Toronto Maple Leafs for the past nine seasons. He is based in Finland and replaces Anders Gozzi, who is the new GM of AIK in Stockholm.
White was most recently the associate head coach at Brown University. White takes over from Brian Renfrew, who has been given more duties in amateur scouting following the appointment of Tavis MacMillan as assistant coach at the University of Denver.
