ABOUT THE HAWKS
- The Hawks are coming off a 1-0 OT win over Anaheim on Monday, following a 1-0 OT win over Tampa Bay on Sunday. Captain Jonathan Toews was the goal scorer in each victory.
- The Elias Sports Bureau points out in the process the Hawks became the first team since the NHL reintroduced OT prior to the 1983-84 season to win with back-to-back shutouts.
- Monday’s win was the Hawks’ third game without star D-man Duncan Keith, who will be out four to six weeks with a knee injury.
- Chicago netminder Corey Crawford has posted back-to-back shutouts and, in the process, has matched his season high for the last two years. His career best is four shutouts, set in 2010-11. He is scheduled to be in the net against the Jets.
- Monday’s win extended the Blackhawks’ shutout streak to 133:34 and was their fourth consecutive after a 2-3-0 start to the season.
- Interestingly, the Hawks haven’t scored a regulation goal in 139:43 and yet have won four straight.
- Toews’ OT goals give him five in his career, moving him past teammate Marian Hossa and into sole possession of third place in franchise history (since overtime was introduced in 1983-84), behind Patrick Sharp (8) and Brent Seabrook (6).
