Minnesota Wild at Winnipeg Jets
Sunday at 4 p.m., MTS Centre
ABOUT THE WILD
Minnesota was holding down second spot in the Western Conference heading into the weekend. The Wild hosted the New York Rangers at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul on Saturday night before making the trip north for Sunday’s late-afternoon clash with Winnipeg.
The Wild lead the season series 4-0-0 against the Jets, claiming a pair of victories at home and two more at MTS Centre, including a 6-5 triumph Feb. 28, the last time the clubs met. LW Jason Zucker scored with just 2:10 left in the third period to break a 5-5 tie. Minnesota G Devan Dubnyk was between the pipes for all four victories over Winnipeg, although he came on in relief of G Darcy Kuemper in the fourth meeting.
C Mikael Granlund is having a career year, leading the club with 24 goals and 65 points prior to Saturday’s action. Veteran C Eric Staal has rejuvenated his career with the Wild, scoring 23 goals and 53 points, while C Mikko Koivu is right behind with 18 goals and 52 points.
Prior to Saturday, C Martin Hanzal had gone seven games without a goal but had four assists since being acquired from the Arizona Coyotes a few days before the NHL trade deadline.
