Introducing Jetcetera: The Free Press' podcast on hockey (...and other sports)

The Winnipeg Jets home opener is upon us -- and we couldn't think of a better time to drop the puck on our brand new podcast.

Say hello to Jetcetera, featuring Free Press sports editor Steve Lyons and sports columnist/Jets beat writer Mike McIntyre.

The first episode covers a number of topics: the just-completed four-game road trip, the state of the battered blue-line, the latest on the Dustin Byfuglien situation and Paul Maurice's coaching style, including some noticeable changes he's made so far this season.

The first episode covers a number of topics: the just-completed four-game road trip, the state of the battered blue-line, the latest on the Dustin Byfuglien situation and Paul Maurice's coaching style, including some noticeable changes he's made so far this season.

There's no shortage of interesting storylines surrounding the hockey club, and Steve and Mike will bring plenty of insight, analysis and opinions every time they get together to talk shop.

As the name suggests, the podcast goes beyond the Jets and also tackles the latest around the sporting world, with an emphasis on the local scene. The debut edition includes thoughts on the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, their acquisition this week of veteran quarterback Zach Collaros, the thrilling MLB playoffs and more.
