Joyieux Noel.

It’s official, Claude Noel is the new head coach of the Manitoba Moose.

Moose GM Craig Heisinger stepped to the podium at the MTS Centre’s John Labatt Lounge Monday  and introduced Noel as his new head coach.

The Free Press broke this story on Friday but the club made its official announcement at 11 a.m. Monday.

Noel replaces Scott Arniel, now the head coach of the Columbus Blue Jackets. Noel finished last season as the interim head coach of the Blue Jackets, taking over after Ken Hitchcock was fired in February.

Noel led the Blue Jackets to a 10-8-6 mark while behind the bench but was not extended by Columbus GM Scott Howson.

Noel is a veteran coach with experience as a bench boss in the ECHL, IHL, AHL and NHL. Noel won the Calder Cup in 2003-04 as coach of the Milwaukee Admirals.
