A LEGEND SPEAKS
“I know what I’d do with them. I’d put them in a room with bread and water and say, ‘Now you stay in there until you make a deal.’ It would be outrageous not to have a season.” — Boston Bruins legend Bobby Orr in an interview with CityTV in Toronto.
A LEGEND SPEAKS, PART DEUX
“In my book, the owners should make more than the players, that’s for sure. It’s tough to sympathize with (the players) because they were getting 57 per cent of the profit or marketing. It should be 50-50. They should split the pie in half.” — Montreal Canadiens legend Guy Lafleur.
ON THE MOVE
NHL player movement, some rumoured, some confirmed:
Nik Antropov, Winnipeg, Barys Astana (KHL)
Ondrej Pavelec, Winnipeg, Liberec (Czech Extraliga — original deal with HC Trinec fell through)
Tyler Seguin, Boston, HC Biel (Swiss Elite League)
Artem Anisimov, Columbus, Lokomotiv (KHL)
Sergei Bobrovsky, Columbus, St. Petersburg (KHL)
Nate Guenin, Anaheim, Norfolk (AHL)
Anton Babchuk, Calgary, HC Donbass (KHL)
Michal Neuvirth, Washington, Sparta Prague (Czech Extraliga)
Roman Josi, Nashville, SC Bern (Swiss Elite League)
Doug Murray, San Jose, Djurgardens (Swedish Elite League)
Patric Hornqvist, Nashville, Djurgardens (Swedish Elite League)
Ladislav Smid, Edmonton, Liberec (Czech Extraliga)
Andrew Ference, Boston, Mountfield Ceske Budejovice (Czech Extraliga)
Radek Martinek, unrestricted free agent, Mountfield Ceske Budejovice (Czech Extraliga)
ONCE AGAIN
Just repeating the answer to a question fans often ask as to why some players are assigned to the AHL and others aren’t:
Players still on entry-level contracts (their first) can be reassigned to the AHL without having to clear waivers. So can players on two-way deals who pass through waivers unclaimed.
QUEBEC CARAVAN
RDS is reporting that a hockey tour being led by Maxime Talbot and Bruno Gervais of the Flyers and featuring a number of Francophone players will begin playing next Thursday in Chateauguay, a suburb of Montreal.
