Winnipeg Ice forward Michal Teply signed a three-year entry level deal with the Chicago Blackhawks Friday.
The deal has an average annual value of US$825,833.
The 18-year-old Czech product, Chicago’s fourth-round pick in the 2019 NHL Draft, displayed a lethal scoring touch in his first year of major-junior hockey.
In 2019-20, his debut season in North America, the 6-3, 192-pounder scored 63 points to lead all WHL rookies. His 29 goals were tied for top spot among first-year players.
The right-handed Teply was particularly effective playing on his off wing, usually on a line with Ice captain Peyton Krebs.
He was also a member of his country’s national team at the world junior hockey championship.
