WITH a boost from winning the recent CONCACAF Women’s World Cup qualifying tournament, the Canadian women’s soccer team has landed in the top 10 of the FIFA world rankings.
Canada moved up four spots to No. 9 in the world rankings, which were released Friday.
The rankings, announced quarterly, use a point system that takes into account each country’s results in international play from the last four years.
Canada gained 28 points after going 5-0 at the CONCACAF World Cup qualifier held in Cancun, Mexico, leapfrogging Canada ahead of Australia, Italy, Denmark and England on the list.
