TORONTO – Former Toronto FC forward Mo Babouli is a finalist for the Newcomer of the Year Award in the indoor Major Arena Soccer League.

The 26-year-old led the first-year Mississauga MetroStars in goals (21) and points (36) in 22 games. He is up against forward Kevin Ellis of the Kansas City Comets and former U.S. international midfielder Jermaine Jones of the Ontario Fury.

The winner will be announced Saturday. Babouli played 16 games for Toronto in 2016.

The Milwaukee Wave hosts the Monterrey Flash in the Ron Newman Cup championship game Sunday.

Voting for the MASL post-season awards was open to all MASL players, GMs and head coaches, and select league staff.

Mississauga finished 15th in the 17-team league with a 4-20 record.
