Valour FC reinforced its back line ahead of the holidays, signing Australian defender Tass Mourdoukoutas to a contract.

Mourdoukoutas, 24, spent the last two seasons with York United FC where he made 39 appearances and played 3,289 minutes.

Valour’s head coach and GM Phillip Dos Santos said signing the 6-2 defender was a priority for Winnipeg’s pro soccer club this offseason.

“We believe he has all the qualities to be an important piece in what we are building,” he said.

Mourdoukoutas began his professional career at home with the Western Sydney Wanderers of the Australian Professional League and has represented his country internationally at the U19 and U23 AFC Asian Cup, formerly known as the AFC Youth Championship.
