Nashville SC has fired coach Gary Smith, just hours after his MLS team defeated Toronto FC 2-0.

Nashville (3-4-5) stands 10th in the Eastern Conference and has won two of its last thee matches after a five-game winless streak.

Smith, the club’s first head coach, had been in charge for seven seasons. Over that time, the team made the playoffs for six consecutive seasons in the USL Championship and Major League Soccer, and the 2023 Leagues Cup final.
