VENICE, Italy (AP) — Venezia fired coach Giovanni Stroppa on Tuesday after six defeats in as many Serie A matches.
The news came the day after a 3-1 loss at Atalanta.
Stroppa was appointed as Venezia coach in June 2025 and the 58-year-old led the team to promotion to the top flight as Serie B champion.
However, Venezia has picked up zero points in six matches, conceding 16 goals and scoring just five.
A new coach was not immediately named but whoever is appointed will face a baptism of fire as Venezia plays Napoli, Inter Milan and Como in three of its next four matches.
It is the fourth coaching change in Serie A this season after Paolo Vanoli replaced Fabio Grosso at Fiorentina, Raffaele Palladino took over from Domenico Tedesco at Bologna and Alberto Gilardino replaced Carlos Cuesta at Parma.
