Norm Macdonald, an actor and former “Saturday Night Live” comic, has died from cancer, his management agency Brillstein Entertainment announced Tuesday. He was 61.
The Canadian-born comedian got his start in Hollywood in the early ’90s, with writing credits on shows such as “The Dennis Miller Show” and “Roseanne.” In 1993, Macdonald joined the cast of “Saturday Night Live,” where he would go on to host the vaunted Weekend Update segment for three years.
After he left SNL, he starred in shows such as “The Norm Show,” “The Orville,” and “The Middle.”
Tributes have been pouring in online from former showbiz colleagues. including fellow comedians Jim Carrey, Rick Mercer and Conan O’Brien. Here’s what they had to say:
