16-year-old accused in Mapleglen Drive killing
Winnipeg police have arrested a 16-year-old accused in the city’s latest homicide.
Police were called to a home on the 200 block of Mapleglen Drive for a reported assault just after 1 a.m. Saturday.
Officers found a severely injured man, who they attempted to save with emergency medical care. He was taken to hospital in critical condition, where he was pronounced dead.
Police have identified the victim as Dakota Beardy, 26, of Winnipeg. Beardy is the 37th homicide victim in Winnipeg this year.
Investigators allege the suspect and the accused were together at the house on Mapleglen Drive when an altercation ensued. The 16-year-old boy has been charged with second-degree murder and detained.
