Environment Canada has issued an air quality warning for Winnipeg as wildfire smoke is causing poor air quality and reduced visibility.
While Winnipeg’s air quality is listed as “moderate risk” through till Saturday afternoon, “high risk” is forecasted for Saturday evening until at least Sunday evening.
Those more likely to be impacted include people who are aged 65 and older, pregnant, infants, or young children. People with an illness, existing chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors should avoid strenuous activities and seek medical attention if they are experiencing symptoms.
Mild symptoms include eyes, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. Serious symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or a severe cough.
