Jason Aldean and Def Leppard will headline the first concerts at Princess Auto Stadium in nearly eight years in a two-day festival this summer.
The English rock band is playing on July 9, while the American country star is playing July 10 as part of a new annual summer music festival called the Thunder Stadium Concert Series. The Winnipeg Football Club and True North Sports & Entertainment are teaming up to launch the festival, in collaboration with Craven Country Thunder, a Saskatchewan festival.
“Our vision is to make the Thunder Stadium Concert Series an annual Winnipeg musical summer tradition and a destination that brings in fans from out of market,” Winnipeg Football Club CEO Wade Miller said in a news release.
“It’s been almost eight years since Winnipeggers have been treated to a stadium show, and we are excited to host this new festival at Princess Auto Stadium.”
Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Foreigner and Canadian group Toque will be playing on the festival’s first night. American country artists Tyler Hubbard and Nate Smith and Canadian Madeline Merlo will perform on the second night.
