The Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs has publicized its list of four candidates for the vacant role of grand chief.

York Factory First Nation chief Leroy Constant, Sapotaweyak Cree Nation band councillor Bava Dhillon, former Peguis First Nation chief Glenn Hudson and former Long Plain First Nation chief Kyra Wilson were announced as nominees in a post on X Sunday.

The position has been vacant since Cathy Merrick, 63, died suddenly on Sept. 6. War Lake First Nation chief Betsy Kennedy has been acting grand chief since late September.
