A standoff between police and an armed man in Transcona lasted for about three hours Monday night.
Police were sent to a home at about 6:35 p.m. A man was inside armed with a rifle.
“An armed-and-barricaded situation ensued, and the crisis negotiation unit was advised,” the Winnipeg Police Service said Tuesday.
Members of the heavily armed tactical support team “safely extracted” a woman, who was the only other person in the home, at about 7:11 p.m.
The man was transported to hospital in stable condition after he was arrested, the WPS said.
“No charges have been brought against the adult male involved, and he is not being named to protect the family’s identity,” the WPS said.
