Arrest made in truck thefts

A Stonewall man has been arrested and charged after two trucks were stolen and a victim’s credit card was used.

The man, 33, is charged with three counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, two counts each of conspiring to commit an offence and failing to appear in court, and one count of using a credit card knowing it was obtained by the commission of an offence. He was also arrested on two warrants and has been remanded into custody.

A pickup was stolen from a business on Gunn Road in the Rural Municipality of Springfield on Nov. 17. The owner had left the card in the truck.

Video from businesses where the card was used showed a man getting out of a different truck stolen from Winnipeg. Police asked for the public’s help in identifying the man on Nov. 19.

RCMP found the truck stolen from Gunn Road in Oakbank on Nov. 19. A 32-year-old Long Plain First Nation woman who was sleeping inside is facing a charge of possession of property obtained by crime.
