Motorists will soon be able to “let it ride” on a major Winnipeg thoroughfare named in honour of a celebrated local rock outfit.

On Friday, Winnipeg-born musician Randy Bachman will be in attendance at a dedication ceremony to honorarily rename a section of the Disraeli Freeway to Bachman-Turner Overdrive.

Bachman, guitarist for the Guess Who, founded BTO with his late brothers Robbie and Tim, along with friend Fred Turner in the 1970s. The band is set to play with a reconfigured lineup at Canada Life Centre on Saturday.

Friday’s street dedication takes place at 1 p.m. at Oseredok Ukrainian Cultural and Educational Centre at 184 Alexander Ave.
