Man charged in bank, fast-food robberies

A man was arrested after a bank and a fast-food restaurant were robbed this week.

A suspect approached the counter of the restaurant in the 1100 block of Main Street and said he had a gun at about 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The next day, at about 11:15 a.m., a suspect robbed the Scotiabank at 1155 Rothesay St., again warning that he had a gun.

The suspect made off with cash in both robberies. No one was injured in either incident.

Police searching the area after the second robbery found a suspect near the intersection of Raleigh Street and McLeod Avenue. He did not have a firearm.

Victor Mutombo Ilunga, 28, has been charged with two counts of robbery and detained in custody.

Police recovered some of the stolen funds.
